Connection is everything

One of the things I crave most as a person is connection- it is one of my favorite things to do- connect with people, places, ideas--connect businesses with strategies that help them meet their goals, connect people with careers they can thrive in, connect the "why" for someone- I LOVE CONNECTION. This also is one of my favorite parts of leadership- the ability to connect with and learn from so many people in different roles, in different places, with different backgrounds and stories.

With my team, I love connecting daily to grow as together, tackle challenges as a squad, and act as one unit headed toward one goal-to be the gold standard every day, in all that we do {thanks for the words Myers} But for me, it goes deeper than the 9-5; I crave a personal connection with the people around me, especially those I spend the majority of my week with working. Some have called this a weakness of mine, but I disagree. I think that personal connection is so critical to building a team that trusts each other, understands one another, has empathy that drives change and growth for, ultimately performing at its highest level. 

Last night I hosted my leadership team and their significant others at my home for dinner, and the connections that were amplified made my heart so full! Hearing and sharing our personal stories of trials and triumphs {Shout-out to Karlee for being a stage 4 skin cancer survivor who now shares her story on the Senate floor lobbying for more research), as well as the stories of our professional paths, and how we all became connected, and the funny stories along the way {Shout-out to Acton for lifting my digital knowledge up as an individual contributor all those years ago), builds the best teams in my book, and creates that human connection we all crave.

Thank you team ATX for giving up your Friday nights after a long week at work to come together and allow me to show my appreciation for all you do day in and day out to push our team forward. I am so thankful to be a part of this team and I love getting to work alongside each of you every day.
