Connection

Connection

One thing I've noticed lately in the online business industry is a trend away from purely organic online social media marketing back towards email, workshops, and genuine relationship building the 'old fashioned way' (aka so 2018). I've built two businesses organically on social media.

Social media has its upside and its downside. The good bits? Connection, collaboration, and community with folks around the globe. The bad bits? Trolls, flashy influencers, and the fake glitz that can come with it.

In 2020, when our worlds stood still, I spent a lot of time doing two things:

  1. Connecting globally: when I found myself suddenly stopping in a small UK town, I found that I ended up connecting daily with family, friends, and others around the world.
  2. Living locally: the lockdowns led to a hyper-localized economy, local connection, and the value of neighbors nearby.

As we've emerged from the pandemic, I find this a common theme as I connect with clients and colleagues. But recently, in the last few months, I've been hearing more and more about 'screen fatigue', desiring 'just a call' or 'just an email', as we've been working virtually for so long for a change.

What about you? What are you finding with your dispersed team?

Enjoyed reading these newsletters? Would love the chance to connect for a quick coffee chat. Just DM how. And have a great day!
