In the long term, general purpose is simply too expensive from TCO consideration. Also consider current revenue generated per query, it makes perfect sense for hyperscale cloud companies to move to custom chips to improve their margins.

Interesting,when custom chips are the real minimum viable product of AI innovation the customers are attracted with enough features .hope they give us good feedback.chips not only gives you performance but also power improvements.
