I am happy to inform you about our new initiative in India's 6th largest river #Mahanadi. We have started a #MahanadiYouthConnect program in which we shall be developing a relationship between youths and their River and other water bodies. On this Sunday 11th March, we are taking a batch of about 40 youths from Sambalpur City (a major city on the basin) to one of the culturally very important place downstream and a villager of fisherfolks who depend on the River for their livelihood. The youths will interact with people in these two places to develop a holistic understanding of the multiple functions of the River vis-a-vis relationship of the riparian communities with the River. This, we are sure, will develop a cohesive relationship between the city youths and their Rivers and will motivate the future water leaders to protect and conserve the River. They are finding it exciting already and we are also trying to help them learn the technique of fishing with "fishing nets" that the traditional fisherfolks use.
Wish all your good wishes and support.
Thanks and regards,
Ranjan
