Connecting The World To Share Food And Care For One Another

A Purpose is how an organization answers the question “why do we exist?” The best companies in the world are grounded and fueled by Purpose. In fact, academic research suggests that purpose driven companies deliver three times stronger business results, and the employees who work for those companies are eleven times more likely to stay.

I am excited to announce Sysco’s new purpose: Connecting the World to Share Food and Care for One Another

Over the last year, my executive leadership team and I worked to develop this purpose statement for Sysco that unifies us around a common goal that would guide not only what we do as a company, but the impact Sysco makes in the world every day.

We wanted a bold, aspirational purpose that elevates our expectations for ourselves and one that we could use to prioritize the work we do. An example of our purpose in action was our decision to eliminate order minimums for our customers through our Restaurants Rising program. We remain the only national Food Service distributor to make this decision. Our elimination of order minimums shows caring for our customers when they need it the most, despite the negative impact to our supply chain efficiency. 

What I love most about our Purpose is that each word was thoughtfully selected to build a statement that is unique to Sysco. No other company can deliver on this Purpose, but us.
