How is VOICE connected to being a leader? How does this create an impact? Isn't this too niche? How many understand the value & importance of VOICE?
Surprisingly people do. The pandemic has been a huge reflection space for people to look inwards & build their personal brand. Every leader has his/her experience to share as their storybook. Each journey is so unique, that the more people listen, the more they are impacted.
As part of the coaching with the leader we together work on the elements of the VOICE ( Volume, Oscillation, Intonation, Clarity & Emotions) initially & then move into the deeper level of the VOICE Framework more into the leadership space. As a leader communication is a key that connects a team. The attitude of a leader is extremely important to be conscious of.
I have been coaching CXOs & Senior Leaders over a period of time it is very apparent that many leaders want to be there for their teams. However, they are not able to connect and come in for coaching wanting to work on themselves to bridge this gap. Invariably the gap is what gets addressed when the leader uses this framework of VOICE. This is a nuanced way of working on some core competencies which gets him/her in touch with the #voiceinme. The coaching is also working on the leader's attitude. This attitude can be further nurtured as your VOICE that takes you on an inward journey.
Our attitudes are hugely influenced by the people we are surrounded by & our environment. We educate ourselves here and learn both from our experiences & that of our team and the people we interact with. Introducing you to the attitudes that help connect to the leader within:
Vulnerability: A leader is one that the team looks up to & therefore sharing the struggles & failures as much as the success stories are extremely important. The attitude of humility & willingness to learn makes this an amazing quality in the leader.
“A leader, first and foremost, is human. Only when we have the strength to show our vulnerability can we truly lead.”- Simon Sinek
Objectivity: The ability to detach makes a leader respond & not react to challenges facing the team. This ability to detach emotionally helps the leader to be objective.
“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have?humor but without folly.”-- Jim Rohn
Informed: Today is the time of "Information Overload". People are looking for information, and leaders who know how much, when & what to say are the most sought-after.
“Information leads to transformation. If you are not inspired by being informed, you will expire by becoming deformed!--?Israelmore Ayivor
Compassion: Compassion is one of those timeless traits of a great leader. It is experienced by team members who interact with the leader. It is moving into taking empathy into action mode.

"True compassion means not only feeling another's pain but also being moved to help relieve it." -- Daniel Goleman
Engagement: Engagement is an outcome when the team members are completely aligned with the team's goals. This is possible if the leader is Vulnerable, Objective, Informed & Compassionate.
“Always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers.”--Stephen R. Covey
If all of these are inculcated, connecting to Leader within is not a challenge at all. The more you stay connected to yourself the more powerful a leader you emerge! Concluding with Adam Grant's words, “Good leaders build products. Great leaders build cultures. Good leaders deliver results. Great leaders develop people. Good leaders have vision. Great leaders have values. Good leaders are role models at work. Great leaders are role models in life."
How do you connect to the leader within?

2 年Resonate with you Rashmi . It is very easy for people to nominate the team for development, but when it comes to self, they do not have time to work on the findings. Best way is VOICE which can facilitate during their travel time to the office and help them to introspect on the areas they need to improvise.
