Connecting Through Authentic Conversation
I am continually amazed by the power of honest, vulnerable dialogue to forge meaningful connections and shed light on the challenges we all face in pursuing our passions. Our recent episode with 美国斯坦福大学 pitching coach Thomas Eager served as a perfect reminder of why Craig Surgey and I started this podcast in the first place.
When we launched The Struggle Bubble , our goal was to create a space for real, raw conversations about the often-unspoken struggles that come with chasing big dreams while also striving to be present for the people and pursuits that matter most off the field or outside the office. The outpouring of support and resonance we've received from listeners across industries and around the globe has been both humbling and invigorating.
Planning, recording, editing, and promoting a podcast is no small feat, and it certainly requires us to navigate our own "struggle bubble" as we balance this passion project with the demands of our day jobs and family lives. But conversations like the one we had with Thomas make all the hard work feel worthwhile and then some.
Throughout our chat, Thomas generously shared wisdom from his journey as an athlete, coach, husband, and father. His insights on the perils of chasing perfection, the importance of aligning your time with your priorities, and the art of leading with empathy and authenticity resonated deeply.

In the high-pressure world of college sports, Thomas offered a refreshing perspective on redefining success and identity beyond on-field performance, staying grounded in an era of social media scrutiny and lucrative NIL deals, and modeling a healthy approach to achievement for the next generation. The parallels between the struggles he described and the challenges many of us face as professionals, parents, and people were striking.
Beyond these insights, what made our conversation with Thomas so remarkable, was the genuine warmth, humility, and thoughtfulness he brought to the dialogue. His willingness to let us in on his missteps, breakthroughs, and ongoing struggles made for a truly authentic and impactful exchange - one that encapsulated exactly what The Struggle Bubble is all about.
We are so grateful to Thomas for joining us and to all of our listeners for coming along on this journey as we strive to normalize conversations about the challenges inherent in pursuing a life of passion and purpose. We hope you'll tune in to this episode and join the conversation. Together, we can learn, grow, and find solace in the knowledge that no one is alone in the struggle.
