The €215 million Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade has been officially opened, marking a great advancement in Cork's transportation infrastructure and connectivity. This project aims to streamline traffic flow and significantly enhance the safety of Cork's residents and business community.

Strategically positioned at the confluence of four national roads, the Dunkettle Interchange is crucial for regional transportation. This upgrade introduces 18 new road links covering 10 kilometres alongside seven new bridges and extensive enhancements to existing structures.?

The project has reduced peak-hour journey times by almost 50% on average, improving traffic efficiency. Specific routes enjoy significant reductions in travel time, making daily commutes faster and more predictable for thousands.

With the new interchange now in operation and a three-year maintenance period underway, Cork looks forward to a future where mobility, economic growth, and community connectivity are seamlessly integrated, setting a new standard for urban infrastructure projects throughout Ireland.

The Irish government has announced a ￡685 million investment for key projects across Ireland, including major road improvements, a new bridge, and rail services and sports facilities enhancements.?

A significant portion of the funds, ￡523 million, is dedicated to the A5 North-West transport corridor, creating an 85 km dual carriageway to improve travel from Derry/Londonderry to Aughnacloy. Additionally, constructing the Narrow Water Bridge will enhance connections between Northern Ireland and the Republic, fostering easier cross-border travel.

The investment also includes ￡10.7 million for an hourly rail service between Dublin and Belfast to enhance transport links between the two cities. Furthermore, ￡42.8 million is allocated to redevelop Casement Park stadium in Belfast, preparing it as a venue for the Euro 2028 football tournament.

This investment package aims to improve transportation, connectivity, and community enhancement for economic growth in Ireland.
