Connecting and Sharing is the way to a better future

We are living in challenging times. Challenges that create or reflect the need for change.
Everyone has been affected by the pandemic, and every one of us has needed to change how we do what we do.
More people than ever before are using technology to connect with family and friends, from digital weddings to birthday parties, to telehealth and homeschooling and of doing business by video conferencing.
I’ve experienced tremendous change in 40 years in the tech industry and the most important thing I’ve learnt is that the more technology that’s available and being used, the more the human element matters.
Technology doesn’t innovate, people do. Nothing much in society and our economy changes unless people change.
Technology amplifies the potential of people to change things, by connecting them with others of like minds, and to information that was previously hard to gain.
In the face of this amplification of human potential, and the increasing speed of change associated with that, comes the need to confront a very big reality.
Change is hard...because it is human.
Our instinctive first response to change is to fear it until we understand better what it means to each of us.
Overcoming the fear that comes with change requires us to acknowledge that fear, and to connect and share with others.
Sharing means being heard and listening to the experiences of others, accepting their truths without seeing them as a threat to our own.
Connecting and sharing with others facing similar challenges in the face of change is the key to learning and working through challenging times, and taking advantage of the opportunities that emerge.
This week Xero is hosting a customer engagement series called ‘Xero On Air’ to connect and share with our community of bookkeepers, accountants and small business owners all over the globe. We’ll share information, insights and tips to help our customers navigate current challenges and to find a new path and discover new opportunities as they emerge.
It’s not too late to register for #XeroOnAir, check it out here, and join us!
