Connecting Schools with 9-1-1 and First Responders

As summer comes to a close and first-day-of-school pictures flood our social media feeds, parents and educators throughout the nation are thinking about the safety of students and staff. Data from a recent 摩托罗拉系统 2023 K-12 School Safety Report found that while more than 70% of parents and 80% of teachers are confident in their school’s emergency response plans, those closest to students are more anxious about school safety than they were five years ago.?

Technology is a critical component of a well-planned, collaborative approach to school safety - helping to secure schools, detect threats, respond to incidents, empower onsite personnel, and keep students and staff safe. In recent months, states, such as #Texas and #Tennessee, have prioritized school safety by passing Alyssa’s Law, which requires every school building to have a silent panic alarm connected to 9-1-1. Other states have put forth legislation that calls for panic button apps or other innovative solutions that will help improve school safety outcomes.?

Panic button apps allow teachers, administrators and staff to instantly communicate any type of emergency to 9-1-1 and onsite personnel with just a push of the button. Enriched data is also delivered via the app including device location, the type of emergency, detailed maps, floor plans, and entrances and exits so that immediate action can be taken by first responders upon arrival.?

As we begin the 2023-24 school year, I hope that more states and school districts will consider school safety mandates and funding programs so that students, parents and school staff can have greater peace of mind during the academic year.?
