I just had another great conversation with a new connection. Someone I had reached out to and as I've experience with many of the content creators and other interesting individuals, they reply and ask why I chose to request a connection. Below is a snippet of the start to our conversation.
{New Connection} Why would you like to connect with me?
Thank you for accepting. I’m excited to make your acquaintance.
The reason… (little wordy)
1) Saw a couple of your post due to interactions with others I’m connected with and liked them. Realized you recycled the post today from the comment section of a previous post, probably because it was funny, and shows you don’t take yourself too seriously all the time.
2) I’m just rejoining the world, in a manner of speaking. I’ve been semi-retired for about eight years. Went through some personal and health issues that sidelined me. Now, I’ve written a couple of books, have more planned, and want to share my knowledge and lessons learned. Have a goal of building, promoting, and serving using LinkedIn as part of my primary platform.
3) I am currently in a high-octane knowledge acquisition mode. I’m processing at a high speed, implementing cautiously and hopefully strategically, and planning to be in a place by April 1 to truly go wide-open to grow my brand and start helping other entrepreneurs.
4) Back to you - I am connecting early on with people I find interesting. People who do things similar to what I would like to do. People I believe I would like to interact with, learn from, and find out how I may be able to help them.
So, in reality, I’m a celebrity stalker looking for glory and fame by living vicariously through the famous people like you. :)

I'm finding through my conversations with the people I connect with; whether they are a Top 1% Voice or they have a small connection base, they all share the same advice and appreciation. That advice is to be genuine, be patient, know that you don't know, and be real in your desire to help people.
So if you're new to LinkedIn or new to trying to grow your connection. My advice, from I've learned so far, BE DESCERNING, BE FOCUSED, BE PATIENT.
Also, something else I've learned, but I'm not good at doing yet... ASK THE QUESTIONS...
1) If you liked this article, please hit LIKE
2) SHARE with your connections as they might like it as well.
3) If you think we might have similar goals and like minded interest, hit the Connect button and lets talk!
Cheers! Joe
