Connecting to the Nature

Connecting to the Nature

This tree is special to me and I wanted to write about it a day before yesterday (June 5th the Environment day) but couldn't find time.. Of all thousand of trees we have planted (my NGO, Avani Green Foundation, planted more than 1000 trees in last three days), this tree is special one. This is exactly opposite to my office. I noticed it first 11 months back when it was hardly 2.5 feet. One day someone broke the main stem at height of 2 feet (in the pic you can notice the healed knot.. from where first two branches come out). The scene was horrible and nothing less than a murder by chopping the head half way. I tried to do local rescue(as per my knowledge) by putting back the hanging upper part of the plant, applied some mud pack and tied it with a piece of cloth. In a week time, it surprised me by sprouting two new thriving branches which are now the part of split stem.

There were more risks to its life. I had to line up many stones to safeguard it from parking threat. Once, I remember asking the neighbor lady to stop BBMP worker and cleaners to not to uproot it in a bid to keep the road clean only. I have witnessed its growth inch by inch and believe me it is one of the fastest growing tree I have seen in my life. May be it wants to convey its worth there and make humans feel its presence so that no one destroys it.. At the same time making its main stem strong enough for the predators. In just 11 month it is able offer shade to part of my car!

It's amazing feel to connect with nature! Just try and experience!
