Connecting to Nature to Disconnect From The Noise

Connecting to Nature to Disconnect From The Noise

Disconnect to connect is one of my favorite phrases I use to describe the feeling of going into nature. I admire the outdoors as it is a way to reground and find inspiration in natures beauty. The other day I was curious about why I liked going into nature so much and decided I would research my craving for it a bit more. Let's dig into the data about this:

According to the latest 2024 data from Nielsen, adults in the United States spend an average of 59 hours and 56 minutes on media per week. If you break that down, it amounts to over 8 hours per day. Of that, users spend an average of 42 minutes on the internet on the computer. And 2 hours 21 minutes on their smartphone. This stat is ??(and I think for most people in a marketing or sales profession this is actually greater)

Our increasing reliance on technology, combined with a global trend toward city like living, means many of us are spending ever less time outdoors!

So why is nature important? Some of my favorite things that research shows:

  • Neural Growth & Neuroplasitcity: Engaging with nature promotes neural growth and adaptability through the concept of neuroplasticity.
  • Mental Clarity: Nature offers a powerful remedy to mental fog and stress.
  • Improved Problem Solving: Nature can help people boost their problem-solving abilities.?

I usually go for local hikes but a few weeks ago I merged the hiking world with the art world when I visited located Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, NY. What a cool experience if you are looking for a day trip getaway!

Very true and Insightful! More time and interaction with nature, outside, even interaction with another person(friend, etc.) and less interaction/time on computer, electronics and social media can really improve our mental/psychological on a weekly basis.
