Connecting with My Inner Child

Connecting with My Inner Child

When was the last time you’ve felt fully connected with your inner child?

Having spent some time with a shaman a few days prior, and being told that my inner child needed some sort of release, I ended up in a class that did exactly that. I joined this class without knowing what it was except for its title, “Vocal Activation”.

As with most spiritually inclined classes, it started with us randomly picking a card to allow us to set intention. I. got a card that said, “MISTAKES: Allow me to know that it’s okay to make mistakes. Let me always take care of the inner child so that he/she feels loved no matter what.”

It was a very curious card, but it made so much sense as soon as the instructor told us that we would be singing throughout the session. My gaaaash. And may solos for each. What the heck did I get myself into!?

It was like a merging of singing and meditation, since we had our eyes closed most of the time. We were singing random sounds, vowels and sometimes, there were actual words.

And then there was this line, “We are guided and protected wherever we go, wherever we go, wherever we go.” We sang this over and over, at least 40 times. Midway through, I knew my inner child heard it and started believing it. I started crying amidst all the happy singing!

I really am guided, protected (and I’m adding supported too!) wherever I go.

Where to next? My inner child said zoo, ice cream, yummy food, rest, massage and more yummy food. So I did all that.
