NOTWORKING Networking event, Exeter

October started with our first Notworking Networking event at The Vaults in Exeter. This unique event brought together over 100 like-minded professionals for an evening of networking, education and fun. Attendees enjoyed tarot readings, massages, and a keynote presentation by Microsoft’s Chris Wheeler on the transformative power of AI in business.

On 9 October, we proudly sponsored the ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year’ at the prestigious SCEPTRE Awards. The awards celebrate excellence in the British retail destination management sector. Our Managing Director, James Tizzard, had the honour of presenting the award to the MEADOWHALL SHOPPING CENTRE LIMITED for their exceptional projects in biodiversity, waste reduction, and management of resources.

Whack-a-Hacker Game

The excitement continued on 16 October at the Devon Business Show 2024. Our team connected with hundreds of delegates and leading businesses from the South West. Our interactive ‘Whack-a-Hacker’ game and ‘Pick ‘N’ Mix’ stand were a hit, drawing in attendees including Stuart Elford , Chief Executive of the Devon Chamber, and Plymouth’s Lord Mayor.

Congratulations to Jake Cooper of First Class Support , who won our prize draw and a strategy day with our Head of Cloud & Software Services, Matt Gifford .

Cyber Security Webinar

As part of Cyber Security Month, on 17 October we hosted an insightful webinar with Andre Lynch from ConnectWise and our own Geraint Williams . They discussed the current threat landscape and the benefits of Managed Detection and Response (MDR). The event also featured a premium whisky-tasting session. Would you like to know more? Throughout October, we’ve also published blog articles on social engineering attacks, the three pillars of cybersecurity and the hidden dangers of physical security vulnerabilities in office environments.

Modern Networks team at UKSPA’s 40th Anniversary Conference

From 16 to 18 October, we were proud Silver Sponsors at UKSPA - The United Kingdom Science Park Association 40th Anniversary Conference. At the event, we highlighted the critical role of cybersecurity in the digital landscape of UK science parks. Our team found the conference truly inspiring. They had the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers discussing digital innovation, sustainability, and the future of science parks. The conference culminated in a sumptuous Gala Awards evening.

To end the month, we hosted another webinar with Matt Gifford, who shared insights on Microsoft licensing, partner value, contract consolidation, and AI preparation for business. The event was made even more enjoyable with a gin-tasting experience.
