Connecting the Dots
We are proud to be part of the #ConnectingTheDots series presented by MedTech Europe and produced for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies by @BBC Storyworks, the commercial content division of BBC STORYWORKS Global News.
Medical technologies are all around us, such as contact lenses, syringes and bandages. Our #medtech innovations featured in this series showcase the power of our technologies that enable automated red blood cell exchange to manage #sicklecell disease and lab-grown human skin to treat patients with burns.
We wanted to participate in this series because automation is the core of what we do. Automation can simplify processes, and the result is making these therapies more cost effective which translates into more patients being able to access life-altering treatments. I’ve said and consistently believed that innovation without patient access is waste. We maintain our commitment to expanding patient access.
Innovation thrives with a holistic approach devoted to patients’ unmet needs. We connect industry, customers, clinicians and patients, using research, science and data to positively impact lives. We are committed to serving more patients. That is why we participated in the #ConnectingTheDots series presented by MedTech Europe, an industry association. The series was produced for Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies by @BBC StoryWorks, the commercial content division of BBC StoryWorks Global News.
We believe in “gemba,” literally translated as “the real place.” In this case, gemba means walking in a patient’s shoes to better understand their needs. By seeing through their eyes, we hope to build awareness about how medical technology can help to improve quality of life for patients. My hope is that when other patients see this series, they reach out and access these life-changing technologies and therapies because innovation without patient access is waste.
