Home Market Foods (HMF), a leading U.S. food manufacturer, has acquired the former Carla’s Pasta plant in South Windsor, Connecticut, investing $70 million to create a state-of-the-art meat production facility. Set to open in June 2025, the plant will feature advanced technology and sustainable practices, creating around 210 jobs by the end of 2027. HMF chose Connecticut for its skilled labor, favorable business climate, and strong local support, a decision praised by Governor Ned Lamont as a boost to the state's economy.
Carillon Technologies has expanded its operations in Connecticut by establishing two new subsidiaries, ReflecTek and OTenna Technologies Inc., in New Haven. The company marked this milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 7 at its Connecticut Research Center.
Numisma Bank , a fintech global currency distributor, recently opened its world headquarters in Greenwich. Numisma is the first Connecticut state-chartered innovation bank to receive a Federal Reserve master account, allowing it to operate across the U.S. The bank focuses exclusively on distributing U.S. dollar and foreign currency banknotes for central banks and international financial institutions, filling a gap left by traditional banks. Its cloud-based financial infrastructure enables efficient global transactions, without engaging in retail banking or loans.
Five life sciences companies—Cellsbin, EpiTET Therapeutics, NanomediGene, Oxylus Energy, and Talam Biotech—are expanding their operations in Connecticut, attracted by the state’s strong bioscience ecosystem and partnerships with institutions like Yale University. Cellsbin is investing $1 million to expand its oncology detection R&D efforts at BioLabs New Haven . EpiTET Therapeutics, a 耶鲁大学 spinout, is adding 10 jobs and investing $8 million as it establishes its first office in New Haven.
NanomediGene, specializing in targeted drug delivery systems, is creating 10 jobs and investing $3 million in its new lab space at the 101 College Street bioscience tower. Oxylus Energy , another Yale spinout, is expanding in Branford, adding 6 jobs and committing $4.5 million. Talam Biotech, formerly based in Dublin, Ireland, has relocated its headquarters to BioCT Commons in Groton, drawn by Connecticut’s biotech cluster.

Ensign-Bickford, a 188-year-old family-owned business, manufactured key components for Artemis 1, including separation joints and explosive transfer lines. NASA recently visited the company to express gratitude for their vital contributions. The Artemis program is gearing up for its next historic flight in 2025, set to include the first astronaut of color and the first woman to orbit the moon, all made possible in part by Connecticut's aerospace expertise.

Yale Invests in AI

Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) has introduced a new Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, aimed at preparing students for high-demand careers in the rapidly expanding AI field. The program is designed for students with backgrounds in computer science, mathematics, and other STEM disciplines - emphasizing both theoretical and practical AI applications and?providing direct pathways to employment in industries like finance, insurance, research, and government.?
Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) has earned the prestigious Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) designation, becoming one of only 22 institutions nationwide and the only one in New England recognized by the National Security Agency for both Cyber Defense Education and Cyber Operations. CCSU’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity provides a strong foundation in computer science, aligning with NSA-recommended focus areas, and highlights CCSU's commitment to preparing students for careers in the growing cybersecurity sector. ?
CCSU has also opened its new 87,000-square-foot Applied Innovation Hub, a $54 million facility featuring Connecticut's first XR lab for virtual, augmented, and mixed-reality training in fields like healthcare, manufacturing, and engineering. The hub includes labs for robotics, cybersecurity, and engineering, supporting President Dr. Zulma R. Toro's 2030 strategic plan to grow the state's STEM talent pool. Governor Ned Lamont and state officials celebrated its opening, highlighting its impact on STEM education and workforce readiness in Connecticut.
