It’s been a busy week on the legal front with the Web Summit trial getting under way. As if that weren’t enough, then how about the case involving rival HR software firms Rippling and Deel, that is currently being heard in Dublin, which includes allegations of espionage and theft?

Alphabet’s Google has been warned it faces hefty fines this week for allegedly breaching the European Union’s Digital Markets Act by favouring in-house services across its sprawling search empire , and for preventing app developers from steering consumers to offers outside of its Play Store.?Meanwhile, Apple wad told it must loosen the shackles on its prized iPhone operating system in order to comply with the?same law.

Staying with Big Tech and Facebook’s parent has announced the roll-out of its Meta AI assistant both in Ireland and further afield. It has blamed the EU’s “complex regulatory system” for the delay in introducing the service. Hmm… separately, Amazon’s cloud business AWS has also just officially launched its flagship AI assistant Q in Ireland.
