Have you heard of Relationship Marketing? Apparently, that is what I teach. I didn’t know that until someone else shared that phrase with me. At first, I didn’t like the notion. I took issue with the word?marketing?because it felt salesy at best and manipulative at worst.?
But that was my interpretation. When I thought about it, I guess it makes sense since the subtitle of my first book is “people do business with people they like.” When combined, it took on a different feeling for me.?
We are all, and always, marketing something. Whether it is ourselves, our ideas, our vision or even our preference. The work I do is about increasing your success with whatever it is you are trying to accomplish through the strong relationships you build.
So my question for you is, what’s working?
I was recently asked to be on?a podcast?and they asked to bring a guest?or client that can share their story and experiences implementing the ideas.
Are you that person? Have you achieved?improvement with?your goals?by implementing concepts from? The Connector's Advantage??

I want to hear your story about how?The Connector's Advantage?has impacted you. What results you've seen from integrating key concepts from the book??From generous spirit?to?clear vision,?adopting a?mindset of abundance or being conscientious. What worked for you?
One of you will be invited to join me on the podcast episode.?If you don’t want to be on the show, that’s fine. I still want to hear your story.
Excited to hear! Please share.?

Week 29: Scholarship America
This one hit home as my mother spent decades trying to help people get financial support for education. She spent $20 a week copying her list of resources and handing it out to anyone interested in college.?How did she know? She talked to everyone! So this week I am donating to…?Scholarship America.?They?work directly with students, parents, colleges, businesses, and communities to help students fulfill their college dreams. Since it was founded in 1958, Scholarship America has distributed $4.5 billion to more than 2.8 million students… and counting.?I graduated college with a ton of debt, donate and help someone else start out with a lighter load.

2 年Michelle my biggest learning since creating my business is to be vulnerable and ask others for help. And for me, I get that great feeling in return when I am able to do the same for others. Thank you for the work you do.

2 年?I have used your quote, "In a study of more than 3.4 million participants, Brigham Young University professor Julianne Holt-Lunstad found social isolation and loneliness to have a greater impact on mortality than obesity, and lacking social connections carries a risk similar to smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day. She found people with greater social connections were associated with a 50% lower risk of early death in contrast to people who were lonely." Then you go on to say Connectors are healthier. We have needed that through COVID and have seen health challenges through it. I have used your suggestions for connecting on LinkedIn and even though I am an ENTJ, we all sabotage ourselves at time. But even outgoing, we are less than 1 to 2% of the MB types and have trouble connecting in meaningful ways. The book has helped me help my teams connect with each other, their customers and me!!!! Thanks you!

2 年Michelle Tillis Lederman, CSP, SCC, Leadership Speaker I love this post. Mostly because it is extremely genuine. People can smell when things are automated and your posts never feel automated. I agree with your first reaction for "relationship marketing." People do buy for their reasons, but you can't get to their reasons unless they like you. Which is people buy from people they like. I love that. So when I think about the reaction for "relationship marketing," it is the same reaction when people quote Daniel Pink's book, To Sell is Human. We always sell to our children. We sell them our ideas, etc. which is the same as "relationship selling." People feel selling gives them a bad taste in their mouth. If we are solving problems and educating then we are doing people a favor in the digital deluge of information. When was the last time we wouldn't stop a child from running into the street and then follow up educating them on how important it is to NOT run out in the street. Sometimes we get into these sabotaged mind sets about connecting. Maybe someone doesn't like us, or we have nothing meaningful to say, or we don't like being in crowds. (Con't)
