Connected Laptops: Why they’re going to be the game-changer for your customers’ businesses.

Spoiler alert: The idea of working from anywhere is here to stay. Twenty-two percent of the US workforce is expected to work remotely by 2025, according to a survey by The Futurum Group. However, as work has moved outside the traditional office setting, the risk of security breaches due to the dependence on public Wi-Fi networks has only increased.??
As a channel partner, how can we help our customers support productivity and security? I’ll tell you: Connected Laptops.?
You may have come across this technology, but very few organizations have fully capitalized on its opportunity. The market is less than 1% today, and businesses haven’t been running towards it—yet. After doing extensive research and partnering with managed service providers and OEMs, we identified two strategic fixes to help you accelerate sales of these devices, while solving your customers’ problems.??
Fix #1: Security?
Nobody likes to be in the Breach of the Month Club—and with 73% of executives perceiving remote workers as a greater security risk, we knew we had to up-level defenses in our Connected Laptops. At a workshop, we engaged some of our top partners to truly understand their concerns and get their perspective on adopting Connected Laptops. That’s where the idea of a security add-on came in.??
Our product team worked to develop a SASE solution called T-SIMsecure, which integrates into the network. With SASE, customers would no longer have to worry about protecting Wi-Fi-enabled endpoints for features like cameras. After these efforts, we had another task at hand: improving the user experience.??
Fix #2: User Experience?

A big concern for our partners was whether a 5G user experience on a Connected Laptop could hold up against that of a normal laptop. Luckily for them, T-Mobile for Business has built an end-to-end 5G network that covers 98% of Americans. We also know it can handle the traffic and data because, for the last two years, we’ve been the number one internet service provider in the country, with almost 5 million customers switching to T-Mobile.?
To ensure we’re serving our partners and their customers in the best way, we opted to do a bunch of use cases and customer trials. And through that, we’ve had customers come to us and ask to move their whole workforce over to T-Mobile for Business. For instance, Ericsson is going to move their entire IT staff to our 5G Connected Laptops. We’ve even had several of our partners move their sales teams over as well.?
Preparing our customers for the future?
Your customers are going to need a solution that helps them connect securely from anywhere, so Connected Laptops could soon become as critical to business users as cell phones. The market for 5G Connected Laptops is even expected to grow from 1M in 2022 to nearly 10M in 2025, per Statista.??
My advice to you is this: get to know your customers’ needs. Connected Laptops are likely going to be a part of that journey ahead, and if your customers have concerns, use these points to reassure them that security and user experience won’t be compromised. Adopting these innovative devices can transform business and put your customers in a position to tackle their goals, today and tomorrow.??

6 个月Paul Spencer I could not have said it better myself. My customers want the flexibility and employee delight of the 5G ThinkPad, but it is the security requirements that are convincing the finance dept... No more sketchy wifi, secure connections, reliable patching, and always connected to wipe if lost/stolen.
Great read. I agree Connected Laptops are long overdue in the US. Germany has adopted this model much earlier, but they also have Multi-SIM which made it easier for proliferation.
