Right now, we are at a tipping point. In every classroom, in every school, around the world, there are 1 in 5 kids with exactly the thinking skills needed for the future of work. They are Made By Dyslexia.
But their future skills fail to be recognised by a school system that’s shaped for the past.
And 80% of dyslexic children leave school unidentified, never understanding their true potential.
This can – and MUST – change.
Research now tells us that Dyslexic Thinking Skills map directly to the World Economic Forum’s Skills for the Future. Our workplaces need complex problem solvers, creative thinkers and inspiring leaders (all Dyslexic Strengths).
· But 91% of teachers have little or no understanding of Dyslexic Strengths
· And 98% say teachers need more training to identify and support dyslexia
We are HERE to change that.
Dyslexic thinkers are ready for the workplace of tomorrow. If we can reshape how we teach them today.
That's why we are launching our BOLDEST mission yet:
To train every teacher in the next 5 years to spot, support and empower every dyslexic child.
YOU can be part of it.
Change will only happen if we create it together. So through our biggest and most ambitious campaign to date, Connect the Spots, we’re calling all dedicated parents, brilliant teachers, passionate educators and committed education authorities across the globe to take our free Dyslexia Awareness training and make change happen now. And once you’ve taken the training, share it with your school, friends or by taking part in the #DyslexiaChallenge and tagging 3 people on social media to take the training.
Read the Connect the Spots report here.
It’s a global movement that’s gathering pace
Already, a quarter of a million teachers around the world have taken our free training. But we won’t stop until every teacher is trained to spot, support and empower every dyslexic learner.
It’s what the world needs. And we’re driven to make it happen.
I can still remember sitting in a new school interview with the headmaster, he asked me to tell him about myself, so I relayed what my previous teacher had said about me: “that I wasn’t very bright and I wouldn’t be able to pass any exams”. He stopped me and said "We can help with all of that, and we're not so interested in exams - I'm interested in what you're good at, what you're passionate about, because it those things that will help you to thrive". My whole world changed there and then, and it only took a few weeks at my new school with the teachers’ positive attitude to dyslexia and their focus on dyslexic strengths that I went from feeling a failure to feeling that I had potential, and that I was smart – just in different ways.
It’s why I'm driven to get every educator and parent to better understand and value dyslexic thinking, too. Because when dyslexia is spotted and supported in the right way, dyslexic minds are capable of changing the world with their thinking, just like Einstein and Steve Jobs, Richard Branson and so many more extraordinary people.
Lets make sure every dyslexic child understands their strengths and unleashes their full potential.
This is the moment to make it happen.
Will you join me? It all starts here…

4 年I have just emailed the training link to my son's school. As someone who went without detection until secondary school, I would hate for him to have the same. Thanks for doing this Kate Griggs!

4 年Fantastic news. I hear from teachers from across the globe, so I will most certainly suggest they take up training, so often in countries as diverse as Kenya, India and Japan there is very little support.

4 年Dear Kate Griggs Education administrators need to know about dyslexia because they make rules. You were lucky to have an understanding headmaster. I had a principal who told my mother the reason I did not read well was because she read to me when I was little and that made me lazy. Hopefully administrators will take part in your training.
