Uniting for a Safer Internet Day 2024

?? Today, on February 6th, we join hands globally to observe Safer Internet Day, a vital initiative dedicated to raising awareness about online safety. This year, the theme is "Connect. Reflect. Protect." - a call to action for individuals and communities worldwide to prioritise online safety. Our focus this year is on combating online harm, with specific attention to issues like cyberbullying, adult cyber abuse, image-based abuse, and the circulation of illegal and restricted online content. Join us in making every day a Safer Internet Day by learning, sharing, and taking action.

1. Understanding Cyberbullying:

?? Cyberbullying affects children and young people, causing emotional distress. It's crucial to recognise the signs and address this issue collectively. Learn more about cyberbullying and its impact on young minds.

4. Say No to Illegal and Restricted Online Content:

? Online platforms sometimes harbour illegal content, including child sexual abuse, terrorism, and extreme violence. Report and discourage the spread of such content to ensure a safer digital environment.

?? As we celebrate Safer Internet Day 2024, let's pledge to "Connect. Reflect. Protect." by actively addressing online harm. Together, we can create a safer online space for everyone. Support our campaign today and contribute to making every day a Safer Internet Day.

Today is Safer Internet Day. In Australia this is spearheaded by the eSafety Commissioner whom my team and I work closely with. We're hosting a series of events internally to increase awareness about tech based abuse. We're also posting advice on the nbn? Australia account so that all Australians understand this important topic and can protect themselves and their families better.
