Discover the Secret to Transforming Uncertainty into Opportunity

As a professional, facing a layoff can be daunting, but it's also an opportunity to re-evaluate your career goals and aspirations. Here, I share with you some hints and advices if you are an introvert person or probably too shy to these things.

You might feel like you need to be like everyone else, but trying to fit in can actually lead to burnout and unhappiness. Instead, let's focus on building genuine connections that feel authentic to you. Here are a few tips to help you do just that:

• Skip the small talk: Don't force yourself to chat about things you're not interested in just to make conversation. Be yourself and find topics that align with your passions.
• Prioritize quality over quantity: Don't try to attend every single networking event or meeting. Pick the ones that excite you the most and take time to connect with people who share your interests. A good example about event to attend is: ASIS WIS LATAM 2024 in Panama from August 1 to August 2. ASIS LATAM & CA in Costa Rica from November 18 to November 19. And finally but no least... The ASIS GSX 2024 in Orlando, FL from September 23 to September 25, where you’ll help take security management to new heights and create a more resilient global society. Yes, the ASIS MEMBERSHIP will boost your security professional career.
• Nurture those connections: Building relationships is key, but don't forget to follow up with new contacts! A simple email or meeting can go a long way in keeping the connection alive.

By being mindful of these common mistakes, you can create a networking strategy that works for you - one that's fun, fulfilling, and true to your introverted nature.

1. Pick the Right Spot: Choose events (my recommended events above mentioned) that genuinely interest you. Research them well to understand the vibe and attendees.
2. Shine Bright: Prepare your introduction and questions in advance. Practice your pitch and focus on your passions and what you can offer.
3. Go Deep: Instead of collecting cards from everyone, have meaningful conversations with a few. Ask open-ended questions and show genuine interest.
4. Follow-Up Smoothly: Send personalized messages after the event to keep the conversation going and strengthen connections.
5. Reflect and Rejuvenate: Take time to ponder your experiences. Learn from them, recharge, and schedule downtime for self-care.

Extra tips:

• Arrive early to settle in.
• Bring business cards.
• Use social media to connect before and after the event.
• Practice active listening and show genuine interest.
• Take breaks when needed.

By being authentic, prepared, and engaged, you'll become a confident connector.
