The Connacht Monthly - September

Welcome to another edition of The Connacht Monthly. Once again, it’s been busy with lots happening across each of our businesses, and it has been great to see. So, let’s dive in and take a look at the key high points!

We announced the collaboration between Galway Hooker and Hooked restaurant for the launch of Ali’s Irish Ale. It was fantastic to see the partnership come to fruition, and we hope everyone enjoys the expertly crafted beer in this amazing seafood location!

The Connacht Hospitality Group presented a cheque worth over €23,000 to Croí following the Charity Golf Classic which was held at the incredible Galway Bay Golf Resort. Croí are a phenomenal charity, and the money raised will surely go a long way towards their noble mission.

Everyone wore their county/country colours for World Charity Day!

On World Charity Day, The Connacht Hotel helped raise funds for the incredible Galway Hospice. We wanted to do our bit to support this fantastic cause, so we wore our county and country colours to raise awareness - and we encouraged visitors to contribute what they could. It was a big success!

We welcomed French teachers Laure Quiédeville & Cyril Brisset from the Hospitality school of Lycée Jean Guehenno plus a number of students – Alexis Pasco & Mizan Pedrau. They started with us on September 15 and will be here with us until?October 15 as they work as chefs in our kitchen.

During the mini-heatwave a few weeks ago, we surprised The Connacht Hotel team with plenty of free ice cream - it was delicious. We are always so grateful to our teams, and it was nice to see extra-wide smiles when the van pulled into The Connacht Hotel.

The Beast Parlour with Monster Energy event took centre stage at An Púcán as free haircuts and tattoos were dished out on the night. We also held our first-ever Silent Disco at An Púcán, and it went down a storm – in fact, it was completely sold out!

On September 21, the Bewley’s Coffee Morning in aid of Galway Hospice took place, and there was a fantastic turnout as people donated in their numbers. It was a great way to get people together on what turned out to be a smashing morning, the perfect setting for a cuppa in The Aviary at The Connacht Hotel.

The Galway Convention Bureau made use of The Aviary.

We recently announced that we have raised some €78,000 for charities already this year. We set ourselves a big target to hit before the end of the year, and we are well on our way to achieving that milestone. It’s all thanks to the incredibly generous public and our hard-working teams across the Group!

Eveanna Ryan and Brian Lynch presented a cheque worth over €2,500 to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, and it was fantastic to hear how much benefit these funds will bring. This worthy cause is run by so many selfless people who do so much amazing work, so it was our pleasure to give back.

Did the games night get competitive? We can't say...

On September 26, we were delighted to welcome the Galway Convention Bureau to The Aviary at The Connacht Hotel. They were enjoying their ‘Members’ Meet-up’, and it was fantastic to see them make the most of it in our unique space, which is ideal for all kinds of gatherings.

We rounded out the month with our latest Sports & Social event - a Games Night at An Púcán. It was a phenomenal success, and everybody had lots of fun – we love it when our teams come together for these nights out – it’s a great way to blow off steam and enjoy downtime as a group!
