Congratulations to Orica on becoming even more future ready

We are excited to be part of Orica’s multi-year digital transformation journey, the 4S Program – Simple, Standard, Single SAP, which started in 2017. This July, we witnessed the go-live of the largest and most significant release marking the final implementation of the 4S Program, unifying Orica’s global operations, across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial and Finance, onto a single SAP environment.

Under the lead of Gabriela Azzali, Orica’s 4S Program Director, the deployment of the largest single release of SAP S/4 HANA functionality, hosted in Azure, alongside and integrated to SuccessFactors, Fieldglass, Ariba, Concur, IBP, C4C and SAC to 60 countries and 400 sites went smoothly.

Working with Orica, we focused on putting in place a future-proof solution that can scale and adapt to changing needs. This includes streamlining the technology stack, reducing almost 29,000 custom objects to less than 1,000.

The new standardised processes, systems, data and reporting, enable unparalleled visibility across Orica’s global business. This allows Orica to make decisions based on real time insights, operate with greater efficiency and agility, further solidifying its position as the market leader in commercial explosives and blasting systems.

The 4S Program is an ambitious undertaking. During the last few months, there were several challenges we overcame including operationalising a cutover plan with new work from home realities. Many readiness activities also had to be completed remotely and adjusted due to rapidly changing local regulations.

The discipline, resilience and commitment that Orica’s leadership has demonstrated throughout this digital transformation is truly impressive. By adopting a deliberate stance towards technology integration and having a clear vision of what their future systems look like, they are taking advantage of blurring boundaries to create new spaces and opportunities for themselves as the world’s largest provider of commercial explosives and innovative blasting systems to the mining, quarrying, oil and gas and construction markets.
