Congratulations to Nashville Stars Youth Baseball 11U!

Just as Major League Baseball gets ready to start its season in a few weeks, Nashville Stars Youth Baseball opened its season on a high note last weekend, winning the Perfect Game Tennessee Season Opener tournament!

The five teams taking part in this two-day tournament came together at Cane Ridge Park in Antioch. The Stars opened their run with a 13-12 win over the Rawlings Tigers, and they bounced back from a loss to?US National-Patterson with a 10-7 win against those same Tigers. The Stars kept that momentum going with a pair of 12-run outputs, winning 12-6 against 615 Sting and rebounding?from their only loss with a dominant 12-0 shutout win over US National-Patterson to clinch the title.

Nashville Stars coaches Ro Coleman, Jarrod Parker and D.J. Merriwether were proud of?the team's?performance that led to the tournament championship. The team’s MVP for the tournament was Bren Hill, who went 8-for-14 with a pair of home runs, nine runs scored, seven RBIs and eight stolen bases during the weekend.

The Stars Youth Foundation is dedicated to growing and developing baseball in the Nashville area by bringing players from every community together to develop and grow on and off the field. This weekend's success is not only?exciting, but it is also very encouraging as the foundation pursues its goals. This initiative is?part of the Major League Baseball’s Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program. Launched in 1989, the RBI campaign represents the league’s effort to heighten urban-area youth’s interest and participation in baseball and softball, and this tournament was a recent indication of the engagement in youth baseball in this area.
