CONGRATULATIONS TO THE INAUGURAL CLASS OF FEMALE EAGLE SCOUTS

Girls were first allowed to join the Boy Scouts in February 2019. There are currently about 140,000 girls in Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA (as Boy Scouts is now known). Even more inspiring is that nearly 1,000 young female leaders achieved the rank of Eagle Scout this year.
Becoming an Eagle Scout is a rigorous process. A candidate has to earn 21 merit badges in varying in subject from first aid to business, assume leadership roles, and execute a large community service project. All of this has to be done before turning 18. Because of the difficult requirements, only about 6% of Scouts become Eagle Scouts.
I personally find this incredibly inspirational!
"Eagle Scout is so much more than a medal or an award. It's an expectation and a lifestyle. It means that you're a role model to your community every day of your life. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle."
- Lyndsey Nedrow (who earned the rank with her sister, Lauren)

3 年I wish I had had the opportunity to learn the life skills taught in the Eagle Scout program when I was growing up. It's really nice to see future generations learning survival and outdoor skills!

3 年An interesting thing to note is some Boy Scout Troops accepted girls all the way back to the 80s, and the only award that was problematic to receive was Eagle. It is nice to see that is now solved. Many companies and many managers make a point in always giving an Eagle Scout a chance and an interview. So this is way more important than some might realize. Congratulations to them all!
