CONGRATULATIONS TO BOSTON HARBOR ANGELS ON BEING NAMED “BUILD FRIEND OF THE YEAR” AS PART OF THE 5-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BUILDFEST GALA

BUILD will award Mic Williams and Boston Harbor Angels the “BUILD Friend of the Year Award” as part of their 5-Year Anniversary BUILDFest Gala, which will be held on Wednesday October 19th from 5:30-9:30 pm at the Boston Convention Center.

BUILD and Boston Harbor Angels have partnered and are very happy to be able to bring more resources to help at-risk youth.

“BUILD is a great organization and their results confirm the need for such an organization in the lives of at-risk students and we are very excited to be able to help in any way we can” said Mic Williams, Chairman and Founder of Boston Harbor Angels.

Ayele Shakur, the Regional Executive Director, has grown BUILD’s Boston office to currently serve 400 students with the goal of serving 800 students in the near future. BUILD is using entrepreneurships to inspire students and is achieving incredible results. “We are very happy to have Boston Harbor Angels helping us and supporting our cause” said Ayele.

BUILD

BUILD’s mission is to use entrepreneurship and experiential learning to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities and equip them for high school, college and career success. In BUILD students develop their own business ideas, write business plans, pitch to funders, and launch real businesses. This real-world business experience makes school relevant and motivates disengaged youth to succeed. To help them become college-eligible, students also receive tutoring, test prep, academic support and advising for their school-work and college planning. Entrepreneurship is the hook—but college is the goal. Over, 95% of BUILD seniors have been accepted to college, with over 80% accepted to four-year colleges and universities. BUILD was founded in 1999 in Silicon Valley. The Boston office launched in 2011.
