This review updates obstetrician–gynecologists on congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) evaluation and management. CMV, the leading cause of nongenetic childhood hearing loss, poses risks based on gestational age and infection type. Routine maternal CMV screening is not recommended, but emerging evidence supports antiviral therapy for primary infections.
