Humanity is on the ropes in the workplace. Around the world, employee engagement is at levels so low you can practically hear the collective yawn. The very nature of work is at monumental crossroads, with contingent and flexible employees jockeying for position next to full-timers, the masses demanding a better overall work experience than what they inherited from previous generations, and leadership largely at a loss for how to fix a broken system. It’s no wonder why, in the race to achieve corporate profitability and market dominance, your average worker feels stuck in reverse.
Whirling Chief is Here to Stir Things Up
It’s clearly time for a change, which is why we started our digital collaboration and learning platform with one goal in mind: championing humanity in the workplace. By speaking directly and unfiltered to today’s business leaders and professionals, Whirling Chief proudly joins a growing movement to evolve our ailing work culture and stagnant mindset.
How? Sharing. We have gathered — and continue to enlist — some of the greatest minds in the HR industry to share their thoughts and research on the most pressing leadership and management topics of the 21st century. It’s our belief that the new ‘people first’ era will be achieved collaboratively through equal parts inspiration and science.
All the Elements are There
Indeed, our name derives from the mystical movements of the famed Whirling Dervishes, who bring balance to the world through awareness, passion, connection, and harmony.
- Awareness: Whirling Chief focuses on bringing mind and heart, physiology and psychology, and individual and collective thinking together.
- Passion: We design, develop, and share content highly relevant to human nature (ie. Biologic, social science research, or proven best practices via leading organizations).
- Connection: We help share ideas, and develop, fund, and manage research programs (thru credited Ivy League schools and in collaboration with world-known academic leaders) and, later, summarize key findings to evolve human and business practices.
- Harmony: We believe organizations that thrive are made up of individuals and teams that thrive; therefore, we offer tangible solutions that touch different layers (individual, team, etc.) in an organization.
Bridging the Gap Between HR and Management
The collaboration we envision stretches far beyond the writings of our contributing thought leaders and any exchange of ideas at our workshops. We at Whirling Chief see the need for HR as well as business leaders to step up and become true partners if we are to shift the current context. Only together can we create an environment where employees can not only thrive, but have a personal stake in their company’s success.
Sharing is Caring
The world’s working population is rising steadily, and yet we still have major realities to tackle when it comes to income distribution, age and demographic participation, unpaid labor, education, organization, and governance of labor. By sharing knowledge, practices, and tools around what enables certain organizations (i.e. in tech) to thrive, we also believe we’d be providing extended opportunities for organizations in difficult geographies as well as mid-to-small-size businesses.

Sesil Pir serves as an active HR Functional Thought Leader, Founder and Principal Consultant of SESIL PIR Consulting GmbH, a management consultancy, focusing on organizational development and effectiveness topics across multi-disciplines and industries, and Founder of Whirling Chief, a global digital learning & collaboration platform.
Mrs. Pir has been published in the Harvard Business Review, HR Zone and UK’s HR Magazine, and has contributed to several Human Resources Management books.
She started her career as a Marketing Consultant with Deloitte & Touche in 1999. Since, she has worked for Honeywell International, Cargill Inc., Microsoft Corporation and Novartis AG. She holds an MA-HRIR from Carlson School of Management, an Executive MBA from Harvard University, and a BA from Eastern Michigan University. She is a certified Six Sigma in project management and is also certified to administer a variety of 360-degree feedback and organizational Assessment Tools.
