Absence Embodied: Chiharu Shiota, Art Gallery of South Australia

Confronting art in South Australia

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the Art Gallery of South Australia's Chiharu Shiota: Embodied, which runs from Friday 24 August to Sunday 28 October 2018 and includes a major commissioned acquisition titled, Absence Embodied.

The major installation is quite frankly confronting. From outside the specially built gallery, the kilometres of red yarn look inviting, but when you step inside Shiota's three dimensional drawing you are immediately entwined in her mind and it can be claustrophobic. I'd call it a "must see" but it is more than that, it's an experience for all the senses.

Amazing! I love it!
