Confront & Control

Confront & Control

I was asked in a recent interview, "You seem like you micro-manage, are you a control freak?" I responded, "The things that are important to me in my life I confront! I control and I pay constant attention to my family, finances, marriage and all things most vital to my survival. The more important that thing is the more often I monitor it."

The things that are most important to me I pay attention to! We live at a very precarious time. The wealthiest nation on the planet has $20 trillion in debt, most American families live paycheck to paycheck, and it would appear from recent events that simply going to a public outing has taken on new threats because of the evil intentions happening almost weekly.

The people that talk about control as a bad thing are always people that have given up on control. Do you want someone to control the situation when some psycho breaks out threatening innocent people?

Control is defined as "the power to influence or direct people's behavior or the course of events."  You influence (control) what you are willing to confront. If it is important to you - look at it. Pay attention to it. Look at it closely, then continue look at it often.

You are either in control or you are not. I check on my kids every day. I check on my wife every day. I check on marriage every day. I work on my business every day. I verify my finances almost every day. I check on our sales results every 15 minutes.

Am I a control freak? If it is important to you, look at it and exert control over. I am willing to be a control freak so that I am not freaked out.

Let me know if this helps,

Makes perfect sense to me. If you don't control it someone else will and you usually don't get the results you desire.
