Confluence For Teams - Part 6 / 14
This is a part 6 of my 14 part free cartoon-based course, Making Confluence Work, that I created for my Learn By Cartoon site back in 2017. The course is now entirely free, and runs for 1.5 hours, split into 14 parts of 5 - 10 minutes. Although there have been some cosmetic changes to Confluence since, this content is still relevant for teams.
By implementing some basic Confluence team training, to better comprehend what the tool is actually designed to accomplish, and by then establishing good team habits - you can easily crank your Confluence Return on Investment to 80% or higher. And all Team Members will become a lot happier using it. This is easy to do!
Confluence is 'not just a wiki' - it's a collaboration tool.
In part 1 of Page Editing, we covered some basics of the Space Directory, and your first efforts in editing a page. In this 2nd part, we will discuss the concepts of laying out the page to fit your work, linking to other content, restricting and grouping pages, and the magic of macros.
Editing content in Confluence is as easy as editing a document in Word, however, many people don't even use Microsoft Word correctly - the most common error being never using heading styles correctly to build a document. Confluence is much the same - but using styles correctly affects the proper use of many of the Macros available, such as those that will build a table of contents on your page automatically.
Whatever you do when editing in Confluence - always remember Confluence is non-destructive. By clicking on Page History you can always look at, and recover, previous versions of a page. Mistakes are recoverable. Even if a page gets deleted accidentally, most times (unless the Administrator physically clears his trash) - the Site Administrator can easily recover deleted pages for you.
Enjoy and have fun!
