A lot of the mentioned use cases above can be done without a database also as this is Premium+ only, but offering more options to tailor your preferences to, is always good.

We use Loom frequently for live demos and avoiding walls of text which might need clarifying in future, therefore saving a lot of time.

Smart Links

Effortlessly link content from various sources, such as Jira issues, Figma designs, and external websites, directly into the Confluence content tree.

Another notable mention here is the new folder structuring of Confluence content that goes hand in hand with smart links making it a lot easier to structure, sort and find all the new content types.

A massive focus from Atlassian has been the unique benefit of the Atlassian ecosystem and the relationship between the suite of tools it offers.

Confluence and Jira are very often paired together and some users use exclusively one tool but may need to collaborate with colleagues using Jira so the integration focus saves manual work and time.

Looking Ahead

As Confluence continues to evolve, we can expect further enhancements in 2025 surrounding these areas such as:

  • Real-time Collaboration: Enable seamless real-time collaborating across the whole ecosystem of Atlassian products.
  • Enhanced Search Capabilities: Improve search functionality to help users quickly find the information they need. This is enhanced by Rovo, Artificial Intelligence and general improvements to structuring of content.
  • AI-Powered Personalisation: Tailor the Confluence experience to individual user needs and preferences which will automate the manual boring things and let you unleash creativity.

By continuously innovating and incorporating user feedback, Atlassian is ensuring that Confluence remains the leading platform for teams to collaborate, share knowledge, and achieve their goals.

My prediction for 2025 would obviously be that Artificial Intelligence will still be a main focus for Atlassian including focusing on Rovo and Atlassian Intelligence, this will be improved continuously and allow new features across all products.
