Conflicts (Part 5) – Characters

?? Everyone has its own way of arguing. Depending on the conflict we may even change our favorite behavior and adjust to the situation. Humans are quite complex beings, and our favorite action and reaction patterns change not only over time. However, there are in general five characters we may find in arguments. They may be linked to animals:?

?? The Owl explains her own feelings, offers solutions, and tries to put themselves in the other′s position. They often accept compromises, sometimes not well balanced and to their own disadvantage.

?? The Fox follows a discussion very attentively, quickly grasping the points made. Foxes argue strategically, but as well opportunistically, and can often not hide their dislike of others.

?? The Turtle stays calm and considered, a great observer and – if necessary – can retreat from a conflict situation. However, avoiding conflicts can be seen as a weakness and a lack of interest, or even moral.

?? The Wolf is self-confident and assertive. Such personality often contradicts and criticizes. It is hard to convince by other arguments as they are more power driven than rational.

?? The Monkey likes to argue and is quick-witted, always ready with arguments, theories, or quotes. They have an opinion on everything, though sometimes better or less-well informed.

?

?? If we believe we know individuals falling under such patterns or feel us well described in some situations, it′s all good. We may show some or all such patterns depending on a situation, and the same may be true for others we know. There is nothing right or wrong. The better we understand others and ourselves, the better we are prepared for arguments.

?

?????? Sometimes it is helpful to get an outside view. Feel invited to discuss. Here of there https://von-con.com/?lang=en
