Conflict Management

Grab a Hold of Conflict

How does a conflict arise? The answer is when individuals strongly disagree with each other’s ideas and opinions, the conflict arises. A conflict must be avoided as much as possible as it ruins the peace and drops the productivity leading to demotivation of the individuals. Efforts must be made to explore and prevent the factors leading to a conflict. Certain skills are needed to control conflict at work and in personal lives. Let’s discuss these skills in detail:

1.???Efficient and effective communication Skills

Efficient communication skills are highly important to prevent conflicts. While we are interacting with others, we should be highly cautious of our speech and tone of voice. Never raise your voice to others, even if there is a disagreement on ideas. Always speak politely in a convincing manner. Try to be specific and concise in your conversation. Avoid using any abusive language and don’t use words that hurt the feelings of others.

2.???Listening Skills

Always be an active and empathic listener. Try to listen and understand the other person’s point of view. Show some empathy while listening. Don’t just jump to the conclusions and assume things. Always listen to the other side of the story.

3.???Patience

Patience is another significant skill to master if one wants to avoid conflict. There must be people around you who provoke you to argue. Be patient and never lose your temper. Always listen to your gut feeling and support the right thing. Learn to keep control of your emotions as losing your temper will only make the situation worse.

4.???Impartial

One should be impartial to avoid conflict. Try not to support your friend or relative always. Stand by what is right and avoid supporting anything that is wrong regardless, of who is on the other side. Listen to everyone and keep an open mind towards discussions.

5.???Positive Attitude

A positive attitude is essential to avoid conflicts and arguments. Try to avoid pointing fingers and blaming. Nobody is perfect so if you have done something wrong, dare to accept it. Also, avoid backbiting as it will only spoil the relationship. If you don’t agree with others’ views, have a calm discussion with them to understand their perspective. Have an adjusting attitude towards others as life is all about adjustments.
