Configuring Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud

Introduction

Using Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud customers can connect their applications or services present in GCP with OCI services. With the Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud, Oracle and Google have created an integrated cloud experience using OCI FastConnect and Google Cloud Interconnect.

Google Cloud regions are paired to specific OCI regions. When you create Google Cloud resources in a particular region, you must create OCI resources in the paired OCI region. For example, if you have created Google Cloud resources in the asia-northeast1 Google Cloud region, then you must configure OCI resources in the ap-tokyo-1 OCI region. The following table lists the Google Cloud region and paired OCI region.

Here are the steps to configure the interconnect :

Create a VLAN Attachment in Google Cloud:

Launch the Google Cloud Console and under Network Connectivity go to Interconnect. Create a VLAN attachment by clicking on CREATE VLAN ATTACHMENTS and selecting Partner Interconnect connection -

This step generates a pairing key that you share with OCI. The pairing key is a unique key that lets OCI identify and connect to your Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network and associated Cloud Router.

Create a FastConnect virtual circuit with OCI:

Login to the OCI Console and create a FastConnect connection under Networking > Customer connectivity > FastConnect. When creating a FastConnect connection select Google Cloud: OCI Interconnect -

Next, enter the Pairing Key obtained from GCP under Partner Service Key -

After creating the FastConnect connection verify the status of VLAN Attachments on GCP and FastConnect Connections on OCI -

Conclusion

The Oracle Interconnect for Google Cloud is a dedicated, private interconnection service combining OCI FastConnect partner connections and Google Cloud Partner Interconnects that helps multicloud customers innovate across two clouds and apply existing and familiar tools to support workloads. Customers can use the Interconnect to build a multi-cloud strategy.
