Configuring L2TPv3

In this article I'll show you how to configure Layer Tunneling Protocol Version 3.

We'll be using the topology below:

We'll start by assigning IP address to PC1 and PC2:

Next we'll assign IP address on R1 and R2 (don't forget to enable the interface facing PC1 and PC2):

At this point R1 and R2 should be able ping each other, we'll proceed to L2TPv3 configuration:

Once we replicate this configuration on R2, we can verify whether PC1 can reach PC2:

We can also verify the tunnel status by running the following commands on R1:

And that’s how you set up L2TPv3.
