Configure Visual Studio 2019 with SSDT or Install any other extensions.

I have just started using Visual Studio 2019. After facing a little bit challenge I was able to configure it to use SSDT. It is a little tricky but here is a description which will allow you to configure the initial set up to start using SSDT or any other available extensions within.

Let's Install Visual Studio 2019 from this link. I have downloaded with the community version. as shown here.

Then open the installer and select the "Data Storage and Processing " tool sets as shown below. This is just for SSDT usage. you may add your respective related tool sets accordingly. Click on the required items to be installed and then progress to install.

Once it is installed let's open Visual Studio 2019. Once open from the pop up window just proceed selecting the option 'Continue without code'. As; if you are not having proper set up you won't be able to open the desired type of projects either. Post you will land up in the home page of the tool.

It's a little changed here this time from the previous versions. Click on the "Manage Extension" tab.

Once the new window opens lets go to the Online tab from the left side pane and select the desired extension to be added. Here I am adding SSRS. Click on download.

A download pop up will come and post the download a message like below will be shown. The extension is now ready at your system to be installed and is scheduled to be installed post you close all the windows .

Let's close all open visual studio windows and it will start installing. Click on the Modify button to proceed and install. Post finished all set to go. Open again Visual Studio 2019.

N.B. : You must have restarted your system whenever asked during any other Microsoft related products installation while doing so. Installing Visual Studio 2019 itself may require system reboot. Please finish those steps before adding new extensions.
