Configure the Content Server UI in legacy mode- from an Admins perspective
This is a "meta" discussion, what can be changed in the legacy gui. Refer for deeper information to the articles discussing this features
A system administrator can czhange this:
Customizations - The interface and tools can be modified to suit your needs by writing code using the Content Server IDE (CSIDE). Additionally, XML skins can be employed to give Content Server a different look.
Cascading Style Sheets - Administrators can reference cascading style sheets that they have configured to modify the background color, as well as the text size, style and color displayed in the body of the pages generated by Content Server.
Appearance Appearance can be configured to apply a custom look(s) to workspaces in Content Server.
ActiveView Create a customized ActiveView template to override specific Content Server events.
Limiting object creation privileges - If your users are overwhelmed by the number of objects available on the Add Item menu, consider limiting the types of items that are displayed for creation.
Reconfiguration of system defaults, with or without user override - Many of the options can be set as the system default by the system administrator. If you feel like a personal option is particularly useful, it’s always helpful to check with the system administrator to see if they can make this a system default, without requiring a customization.
Search Forms System administrators can set up Search Forms (templates) to make it easier for users.
LiveReports A common request from users may be to have a series of items, housed in different areas of Content Server, displayed on one page. A LiveReport, which is a query that can be run within Content Server, is often a simple solution to this request.
Workflow and Forms Can be used to make it easier for users to provide or approve information.
This will discuss taking advantage of the customization tools available in the Classic UI. They are:
Folder presentations Add images, news players (tickers) as well as Featured Items for quick access to information.
Custom columns Display system or custom attributes in the detail view. Custom Views Create their own HTML pages to display in any workspace.
Appearances Add the organization’s branding to Content Server pages, such as your corporate logo, colors, etc.
Search Forms Reuse a particular configuration of the Search page without having to recreate it each time.
The customizable GUI
News ticker ① Displays active news from specified channels.
Banners ② Custom GIFs used as banners.
Featured items ③ Folders and other items that are displayed more prominently above the listed items as well as duplicated in the list view
Sidebar ④ Faceted Browsing, Content Filter and Pulse from Here displayed in the sidebar Facets are metadata assigned to the items that can include custom attributes, or system metadata such as Application or Document Type. Content Filter dynamically filters the facets of all the items contained within the view and its sub-items. Pulse from Here allows you to interact with the posts, displays the comments, and “like” the items.
Custom columns ⑤ Additional columns display system or custom data.
Folders
A folder can be presented in a few different ways in the Classic UI. If the user have the permission to modify a folder, its presentation can be modified to:
News player The news player continuously scrolls through the current headlines of all channels assigned to it displayed in the upper left corner of a workspace or folder.
Banner images Banner images can enhance your folder to bring visual attention to it.
Featured items Featured items in a folder appear above the list of items that the folder contains. Featured items are still contained within the folder – they simply have a more prominent location.
If a featured item is a folder, it displays any featured items within that featured item as sub-items. Consider featuring a few key items in a workspace or all of the items to create a different look.

Custom Columns
Columns can be:
Custom Views
Custom Views can be added to a Content Server folder in the Classic UI from the Add Item menu. If a Custom View is added to a folder, it will insert the contents of that file between the navigation menu and the featured items or list of folder contents.
Appearances
Appearances allow you to customize the look and feel of the Content Server browse area. However, it does not affect the entire browse view. You can use an appearance to hide or replace the header, search bar, Enterprise menu, news ticker and Add Item menu.
Global appearances will work anywhere in the Classic UI in the ContentServer. This includes the Personal Workspace and Workflows.Unfortunately, pages made up using frames do not work properly, so global appearances should be carefully tested.
Because appearance objects can have permissions assigned, it is possible to create two or more appearances for different groups of users. One could be a fairly simple modification to the Content Server UI, such as adding branding and another could be targeted toward users who do not need specific functionality; this can implement reduced functionality for that group of users.
Folder Icon
The system administrator can enable Content Server users to personalize individual folders by associating an icon of their choice with the folder. If this feature is enabled, it is available from the folder’s General tab.
Search Forms
In the Classic UI customizing the Search Forms is another way to change the look and feel of Content Server.
One may want to create some personal Search Forms to easily find information on which one have been collaborating. As long as the user is not signed in as an administrator, any form that the user created is a personal form.
The Personal > Search Templates command displays all of your personal Search Forms.
To save a Search Form click "Save as Search Form" from .
Use Tools > Search from the Enterprise Workspace to use the saved form.
