Configuration and Feature Knowledge Does Not Translate to an Oracle Expert nor a Transformation Expert!

I have been doing Oracle now for 2 decades and for those same two decades folks have gotten it wrong in interviews over and over again.

The failed interviews are tests of memory as whether or not the person can remember the steps to configure AR or what the difference between the Accrual of Expense or Accrual of Inventory. It's silly really & meaningless.

If you sat 20 persons in front of you and you explained to them how to tie your shoes (assuming you've been tying your shoes for at least 30 years) not a single person would understand how to tie shoe laces.

But how can that be? you're an expert at tying shoes? So what goes wrong?

20+ years on and this silly practice is still the norm. And all it does is produce an army of folks who can remember how to "configure" Oracle, but they have no idea WHY they should be configuring it the way they are.

There are so few experts in Oracle these days that companies are suffering the consequences of armies of "rememberers" versus CPA's and Directors who know the tool and what the real best practices are versus what the "config" folks heard in a meeting on the last project
