Confidence + Moving the Needle
?
April showers bring May flowers…..May floods bring June mosquitoes??
May is going, going, going…gone.? June, not too soon.? Okay, done with the fun, puns and such.
For those that know my journey – April 19th our first client with ER Mowing.? We now have 15.? Is that good?? Good is moving the needle in life.? A better version of yourself.? Doing better with family and faith.? Move the needle.
Being out of the corporate world has not been easy.? I do sincerely miss the customers and processes, but mainly the employees.? To those still looking, keep it up!? Have faith and confidence.? You are worth it.?
On the note of worth it, my partner in our company (my son) brought up costs and that we should be respected for our time, abilities, knowledge and services. My response was, “I’ve been in the corporate world where I’m told what my value is per my salary.? I’ve made a lot and made little.? I was simply happy that someone found me worthwhile.”
Truth for sure, for many of us.? Sad as well.? I’ve also been under the thought that I am blessed each time I got paid as someone thought I was of value.? This is why I hate tipping.? I hate trying to assign the value of someone.?
Reality is that someone will always assign value to what is produced.? We may think we are worth something, and not sure until someone agrees or not.? Or a different set of someone’s agree.? I’m still a believer that just because one can, does not mean one should.? That goes to integrity, pricing, service and much more.?
Purpose of this article or post or whatever you wish to call it…. Confidence and moving the needle are keys to us humans having purpose and value.?
When one is out of work for longer than three months at least, confidence begins to wain.? When called into interviews and ghosted or not hired for xyz reason, pieces of us begin to tear away.? If we are applying for a job, we just want to work.? Those hiring, never forget that someone that is applying shouldn’t have to dance/ beg for work.
If we are employed or not, did we as an employee move the needle? Did performance improve?? IF YES, THEN that is a success. ?People/humans should be celebrated for that progress.?
This journey I’ve learned quite a bit about myself, corporate life, personal life and humans.? For me, my core has been simplified.? Still working on being better, rolling with punches and knowing that at every turn there is an opportunity for risk, success and failure.
