In life, confidence can be the difference between moving forward and staying stuck. We've all encountered moments where self-doubt creeps in, making us feel like we're losing. This feeling can be overwhelming, but it's essential to understand that confidence isn't an innate trait but a skill that can be developed and strengthened over time.
The Power of Small Achievements
Recently, I was experiencing a similar phase of feeling low, questioning my abilities and direction and while I was browsing through youtube, I stumbled upon a video podcast by Raj Shamani (by the way he is too good, do watch his video podcasts. The content is very well researched). Raj's perspective on confidence was enlightening. He described confidence as a collection of small achievements that accumulate over time. These "small stacks of achievements," as he called them, serve as a personal reservoir of strength. When you feel down, you can look back at these accomplishments and remind yourself, "Dude, you did then; you can do it again." And that made me revisit 'my small stack' of achievements and it did help me feel confident again. But the broader discussion is about how to create those small stacks??
Taking the First Steps: The Impact of Small Wins?
For anyone starting from scratch, even minor accomplishments can significantly boost confidence. Take, for example, committing to a 45-minute workout. This might seem insignificant to some, but for a person who has decided to start their fitness journey, it's a monumental achievement. The courage to move, to push oneself out of the comfort zone, is a victory. Each completed workout adds to that stack of achievements, gradually building a foundation of confidence.
Embracing the Ocean of Opportunities
Another crucial aspect of building confidence is recognizing the vast array of opportunities available. The world is an 'ocean of possibilities'; also used by Indian Navy in one of their commercials to attract young talent, hmm topic for another day. Coming back to this there are ample opportunities especially for those just starting out. The key is to identify your passion and pursue it relentlessly. When you're passionate about something, every step you take towards that goal becomes a confidence booster. Exploring different avenues, whether it's a new hobby, a career shift, or learning a new skill, opens up endless opportunities for growth and self-improvement. I am doing the same, I love writing so here am I, we are in this together :)
