Confidence GROWS and Anxiety GOES with Action
I remember listening to an interview by Andrew Huberman a renowned brain doctor who literally sits in a lab studying people's brains for a living haha
I thought that since I’m a Mind Body Coach and my job is to help people in their internal and external transformation on a daily basis, it might make sense to listen to this guy
One of the key takeaways from that two hour video was this…
The reason motivation fails so often is because you will never be able to trick yourself into doing something consistently that you are unsure if you can even do
The specific example he used was that no matter how many times you tell yourself you can and will levitate your probably not going to levitate
Your brain needs some data to feed off of and some recent data too
So if you feel you are lazy and can’t get that label out of your brain.. Then it's probably because you have not been as active as you could be for the last few weeks or even longer in a lot of cases
For this reason your brain only has data that suggests you actually are lazy and doesn’t know that you can actually do the thing you’re trying to do because the data of you doing it is so far in the past..
So how do we correct this?
Heard the term action kills anxiety? This is a hidden gem, lost in the idea that is just an old saying or something vague and generic. NO. This is the missing puzzle for many of you.
The difference with this email is that we’re not just going to call it action.. We’re going to revitalize the saying
Aggressively Provoked Action kills Anxiety
This means that in the words of Malcolm X you need to get the action done by any means, with just the first few times in mind.
I remember knowing that i needed to take up meditation, all the people I looked up to recommended it, it was in every book I read and the signs became clearer and clearer.
But I had fear over it, it just seemed unrealistic and I was caught in the matrix of always feeling like I was running out of time..
So I took Aggresive action..
Now this doesn’t mean I handcuffed myself to a chair with a gun to my head. Nothing like this. Aggresive action is not what it sounds like here
It means taking the time to think of what exactly would NEED to be done to make this action happen, even if just for one time.
For me and meditation, I realised after some thought that meditating for 30/ 20 or even 10 minutes was too scary for the first few times. My brain had no data to suggest that the world would set alight within the 10 minutes of me keeping my eyes closed, I couldn’t even comprehend it!
So what did I do? I condensed it to 5 minutes, I even went the extra mile of setting a timer on my phone to make sure I knew I wouldn’t go over and could have that inner peace
This started me off on a wave of meditating for months on end without missing a day
Ironically speaking with you now I have come away from doing it daily, but I intend to restart again today and THANKFULLY my brain has a bank of data.. I know I can do it, so I have no anxiety over the situation
Hopefully now you understand how to remove anxiety over any situations in your life that you know need fixing
One of my top morals I live by is > convenience leads to consistency. When you make something simple, easy and convenient enough it will make it easier for you to stick to
Once your brain has collected enough data of you performing a certain action you will be able to be consistent enough to get better at it and eventually progress
Now I know I could meditate for 30 minutes and even an hour… but as you know, it wasn’t always this way
I hope this has helped
