Confidence And Consistency - The Path To Performance Success

No matter what your area of endeavour, confidence and consistency are the keys to doing your job well. That the latter is the pathway to the former is what experience tells me.

It is a fact of life that when you consistently deliver your desired outcome, the knowledge that your skills are working grows. That is such a simple measurement of success you can’t deny it. ?No matter whether it is your study, your work, your sport or your relationships consistency tells you that you are good at what you do.

It makes no difference whether you are working instinctively or on a highly trained and experienced skill. That very practical measurement makes it plain you are doing OK.

Your instincts can be a very effective teacher. Through testing things out you learn what works best. That’s the way you learnt to walk and talk, so there is clear proof of its effectiveness. But with more technical skills your instincts become less reliable when suddenly your usual processes are no longer working.

?THAT'S WHEN INSTINCTS FAIL

The reason instincts are often not good problem solvers is that they rely on feelings to drive your decision making.

Feelings can be very illogical especially under pressure. Suddenly your results can be very erratic. Confidence rapidly fades.

Why are confidence and consistency so strongly connected?

That you are confident with your choices means you know they will work.

Believing or feeling is not enough.

Knowing they will work Is ultimately the element that enables you to trust your choices.

Trusting your process enables you to trust your instincts when you are implementing those processes. That inevitably makes you more inventive and more creative. ?

Trust of your process enables you to use your instincts within established rules that are proven to work.

Trusting the choices means you will be more playful. It means you can confidently take risks.

You can only do this if you understand HOW your technique works.

You can only do this if you know WHY your processes work.

You can only do this if you have PROVEN, time after time, that it works for you.

Confidence is built on the power of understanding. That's a fact of life.

At The Rehearsal Room I have started offering 2.5hour Information Sessions to demonstrate to actors how solid technique builds consistency and confidence. In these sessions actors can try out two key techniques to see for themselves the results. The first time I ran these sessions 60% of those who attended signed up to do classes.

There is a 100% money-back guarantee after 5 weeks for actors who find the techniques don’t work for them. No-one has withdrawn. In fact, everyone’s growth in confidence has been so clear they are all coming back next term.

Consistency builds confidence.

You can join the next free information sessions HERE.

Take your pick - 10am Sunday 16 Jan or 7pm Monday 17.

"The Rehearsal Room's lessons have left a big impact on my actors brain, and I have found that it seamlessly translates through multiple styles; I have used it for screen work, straight theatre work and now musical theatre work, all with great success."
