Confessions of a Successful Leader

Date: April 25, 1945

Event: The United Nations Conference on International Organization begins in San Francisco.

Journal Entry by Eleanor Roosevelt:

Today marks the beginning of a new era for humanity. The United Nations Conference on International Organization has convened in San Francisco, bringing together representatives from all over the world to discuss how we can work together to build a more peaceful and just world. But with this new hope comes new fears.

My worst fear is that the wounds of the past will continue to divide us, and that our differences will prevent us from working towards a common goal. The world has seen so much devastation and suffering in the past few years, and we cannot afford to let the mistakes of the past dictate our future. We must learn from our mistakes and work towards a better world for all people.

As a representative of the United States, I will work tirelessly to promote understanding, cooperation, and respect among all nations. I will advocate for human rights and social justice, and I will encourage others to do the same. But I also recognize that change cannot happen overnight, and that it will require patience, persistence, and hard work.

The United Nations is not a panacea for all the world's problems, but it is a vital step towards a more peaceful and just world. We must all do our part to support its work and ensure that it can succeed in its mission. I am hopeful that together, we can overcome our fears and build a better world for generations to come.

Needed now, more than ever. When will we realise that the majority of human progress is almost always the direct result of collaboration?
