Bird Strike Incident on Flybondi Flight to El Calafate

A Flybondi Boeing 737-8U3 (registration LV-KEF) operating flight FO5550 from Buenos Aires to El Calafate, Argentina, sustained minor damage after striking a large bird, believed to be a condor, during approach on August 25, 2024. The aircraft's nose cone was significantly dented, leading to the cancellation of the return flight for necessary repairs. The incident occurred as the aircraft landed safely at El Calafate Airport (FTE/SAWC), with no injuries reported among the passengers or crew. Click image above for reading the full article!

Increased Risks As Airlines Resume Flights Over Afghanistan?

Multiple airlines, including Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Lufthansa, have resumed overflying Afghanistan, a route largely avoided since the Taliban takeover three years ago, due to heightened risks in the Middle East. The decision comes as tensions between Iran and Israel escalate, leading carriers to view Afghan airspace as a relatively safer option, despite the lack of air traffic control services. A Japan Times article reveals that data shows a significant increase in flights over Afghanistan since April 2024, facilitated by regulatory changes and driven by the need to avoid other conflict zones, notably following recent missile exchanges in the Middle East, discussing a possible increase of security risks as a consequence. Boeing Strainer Return Flight Deemed Too Risky By NASA

NASA has decided that it is too risky to return astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore to Earth using Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft due to recent technical issues, including failures of five maneuvering thrusters and multiple helium leaks. Initially an eight-day test mission, their stay aboard the International Space Station has now been extended to eight months, with the astronauts set to return to Earth in February 2025 aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon. Boeing will attempt an uncrewed return of the Starliner to the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico in September 2024 to make room for the incoming SpaceX mission. SARPcheck global aviation safety audit: A wet lease, codeshare, ACMI Booster

SARPcheck is a new global aviation safety audit that assesses airline compliance with select ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) across defined ICAO Annexes. The primary aim of this audit is to enhance global flight safety while providing an affordable and accessible tool to facilitate ACMI, wet lease, and codeshare operations. The ICAO Annexes and SARPs that SARPcheck focuses on are specifically those outlined by regulatory and industry standards, including FAA requirements for overseeing foreign air carriers and the TCO approval elements of EASA.

SARPcheck is governed by a London-based not-for-profit organization, the Safety Audit Review Partnership (SARP Ltd.), which accredits Safety Quality Organizations (SQOs) such as AEROTHRIVE, Aviation Quality Services and WAKE (QA) LIMITED to conduct these audits globally. Detailed information about the program, including the SARPcheck Program Manual (SCPM), informative brochures, and the latest updates, is available on our website at www.SARP.org. For further inquiries or personal assistance, please feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to help! Lufthansa City Airlines is the global launch customer of SARPcheck.
