The Concrete Industry has Evolved - What Does This Mean For You?

The concrete industry is undergoing a major transformation. Gone are the days when contractors simply ordered concrete and left it up to the experts to take care of the rest. Now, as customers demand more from their projects, contractors have taken on a new role: that of concrete mixture specialist. However, while they may be able to make minor adjustments to admixtures in order to meet customer specifications, they are not equipped or qualified to design and mix custom batches of concrete. As such, sales teams must step in and provide guidance and advice based on customer needs – but this can often lead to problems down the line if not done properly. In this blog post we’ll look at why contractors should know their place when it comes to ordering raw materials for use in concrete mixtures rather than attempting DIY mixing solutions.

When dealing with ready-mix concrete or precast products, contractors often have limited control over the ingredients used in the mix; however, when working with raw materials such as cement, aggregates and admixtures there may be more flexibility available depending on the supplier's product range. This gives customers more scope for customizing their mixes but could also open up potential problems if left unchecked or incorrectly mixed by inexperienced hands. Contractors must remember that while small adjustments may seem minor at first glance, they could have large implications down the line due to unforeseen chemical reactions between ingredients or simply incorrect measurements.

To ensure the best possible outcome, it is important that contractors understand their place in the process. They should be familiar with the different options available to them and be aware of what can and cannot be adjusted without risking concrete failure. If a specific mix is required or desired then it's essential that the contractor consults with a specialist sales team or engineer who can provide professional advice tailored to the project's needs. This will ensure an optimal solution for any given application and reduce costs associated with failed batches.

In conclusion, while contractors may have some control over raw material choice, they are not experts in mixing concrete mixtures; as such, it’s vital that they understand their role when ordering materials for use in concrete mixes
