Self-drilling

When you are installing a fixture on solid concrete or a hollow wall, you can use an anchor to fasten it to the concrete surface. Different types of anchors are available, including self-drilling, post-installed, and chemical. Chemical anchors require a screw or predrilled hole, and are not recommended for cold-weather use. Unlike self-drilling concrete anchor bolts , chemical anchors do not expand, so they do not have the expansion stress of traditional screws. More about stem wall repair .

The first difference between self-drilling concrete anchor bolts and other types is the size of the hole. Most self-drilling anchors are smaller in diameter, but larger screws are known as LDT's. Self-drilling concrete anchor bolts are drilled with a standard hex or phillips bit. They come in blue, white, stainless, and marine-grade versions. The screw-in-plastic sleeve has a similar force-transfer mechanism to mechanical expansion anchors. Instead of bending and deforming the concrete, a torque moment is applied to the screw in the plastic sleeve. This forces the plastic sleeve to expand against the sides of the hole.

Lag shield

To install a lag shield, you must drill a hole that is as deep as the lag shield's outer diameter and as wide as the anchor's inner diameter. Drill the hole until the lag shield is flush with the surface of the base material. Next, you must set the fixture over the lag shield and screw it in using a lag screw with a 1-1/2-inch to 1-1/2-inch diameter.

Once the lag screw is installed in the concrete, you must install the lag shield. This is a concrete anchor that expands to fit inside the drilled hole. To install a lag screw, you must drill a hole the same diameter as the lag shield's outer diameter and as wide as the lag shield's length plus some extra space. If the lag shield is too small, you will need to drill another hole.

Drop-in

Designed for use in concrete, Drop-in concrete anchor bolts are made of a female anchor and a flangeless top. Their main use is for suspending pipe, HVAC ductwork, and fire sprinklers. They are commonly used in flush-mount installations as well as applications where a bolt must be removed. They require a setting tool for installation. This article focuses on the differences between Drop-in concrete anchor bolts and other types of concrete anchors .

The Red Head Drop-In Anchor is specifically designed for overhead fastening applications into solid concrete. They feature a large diameter and are internally threaded. They can also be used to secure ceiling fans, electrical light fixtures, and transformers. This type of anchor is commonly used in soffit-mounted electrical wiring, and is also available in longer versions. The Red Head Drop-In Anchor has an outside diameter of approximately one inch, which is the same as the outer diameter of the concrete hole.

Chemical

If you're looking for an easy way to install a pole, fence, or other piece of infrastructure in concrete, chemical anchor bolts are the answer. Chemical anchors work in the same way as mechanical anchors do, but they distribute the stress more evenly. Chemical anchors are also considered safe and effective for soft and brittle concrete, making them a good choice for projects where stability is an important consideration. Here are some of the advantages of chemical anchor bolts:

These fasteners are available in several varieties, allowing for flexible installation. The chemical anchoring method is used to insert studs, threaded rods, and rebar into concrete. This method fills every corner of the concrete with chemset adhesive, ensuring a superior adhesion. These anchors are virtually impossible to remove after installation. The Good Use brand offers an extensive selection of chemical anchor bolts, fixings, and specialty products.
