The Concourse of the Americas

The Concourse of the Americas

The next stop on our 2600 mile journey was the annual Concourse in Plymouth Michigan. This annual gathering of the worlds finest autos has always been a highlight of our tours. This year we traveled out of our way to allow our guest designers to see some amazing designs.

The Collection of Porsches history was breathtaking and the Gyroscopic balanced two wheeler that we missed in Nashville was here with it's curator Jeff Lane. A "cackle fest" was put on by the array of funny cars on display. This audible display of horsepower was a magnet for the thousands of guests in attendance.

On the more cerebral side was a presentation by George Levy the Author of the recent book CAN AM a celebration of 50 years in front of the Porsche racing display. I was pleased to award the Concept Vehicle of the Year to the Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept. I did this with the support of some of the most prestigious design judges drawn from the world's Auto Design studios. Thank you all!

General Motors brought most of their significant vehicles from the Bill Mitchell era concepts. Seeing the Astro 1 and II, Stingray Racer Special, and more in the sunlight was a treat for the ages. an amazing display of vehicles rarely seen outside of their private collection.

Our visit to the Inn at St. John's was brief and we boarded the bus in headed to Indy and some racing action.
